Piano and the Pea

the pianoforte plays softly and loudly

A piano and the pea
were both dropped off a cliff,
for anecdotal answers
about air resistance.

The piano encounters
a much greater force.
Its cross-sectional area
is larger, of course.

This means it moves through
more air than the pea,
I notice fast falling,
thin air at my feet.

Now diving supine,
air rushes more softly.
I’ve become the piano
to my forte below me.
