Itchy

inventive imitation

Over my right shoulder there’s an itch I cannot reach. It’s niggling has me wiggling and grimacing without speech. Then I remember my retriever doing a dance upon the grass. Upside down and twist around to what must pass as doggy jazz.

You’d think I’d head back to bed or stretch out on my sofa. But the itch had me twitching on the lawn ’til gone—or almost over. The neighbour no doubt wondered if I was trying to find my mind ( doing a dance upon the grass ) and maybe I should be confined.
