Bum Bum Bee

befriending the swarm solves
the mystery of the many

Missy Charlotte at 17 months is filled with curiosity and confidence. No Jill to tumble down the hill. Stumble once and next she’s slow-stepping downward, backward.

Little fear with one exception, in something so small. Bumble bees, in the rhody bush as I recall. What’s dat, hiding behind grandma’s thigh. Was she amazed the Bombus can fly?

Or fascinated by the fuzz and buzz? Turning awe to ooh — black and orange dots bouncing in the sky. By day’s-end waving them Hi and Bye, confident in their buzz-ness.
